Caterpillar Boots
Caterpillar has been synonymous for huge earth moving machines worldwide since 1925 when The Caterpillar Tractor Company was formed in the US. It wasn't until the end of 1994 that they licensed the brand's rugged ideology and ethos for use in the footwear market developing the first boot ranges in that Autumn to give hard wearing but comfortable boots for use by workmen on building sites.
The Caterpillar Boots and Caterpillar Shoes brand is now sub licensed over to the massive Wolverine Corporation of America in the same stable as a host of other footwear brands including Hush Puppies and the Wolverine itself. The company now has a very big collection of Shoes, Work Boots and Casuals for Men and Women which also include various sub-brands that sit within the collections, for example ‘Cat Raw' was developed to capitalise on growing trend for all things American. Based around the classic US work boot seen from the 1930's to the 1950's, using antiqued, burnished and battered leathers to give a real old time woodcutter feel to the boots but made in the modern way incorporating all of the latest shoe making techniques and comfort qualities.
This trend is set to continue way through this and next year and Caterpillar are well palced to take advantage of the movement, after all Cat are 'Work America!' The Caterpillar Legendary Raw collection (or Cat Raw for short), expanded on the original look adding heavy stitched leather, leather and rubber sole combinations, big aces rust-free eyelets and comfort socking features.
The core of the Caterpillar Boots range is the traditional work boot, Colorado which has been added to over the years to multiply its original; colour pallet of honey tan and dark brown. This was joined by chelsea boots and engineer boots on the same construction such as Creed and Evolve.
The Cat Raw Collection from Caterpillar Shoes was started in 2007 with the introduction of the now legendary 'Peril' boot, a real rugged affair with feature battered leather, riveted spoilers and heavy cleated sole. The collection has now been expanded to include Abe, Warren, Morrison and Zachary as well as the new Classic,‘Vinson' which kind of takes over the mantle where Peril left off. All of these amazing boots are core to the Caterpillar Legendary Raw Boots collection which is set to expand quickly during the coming seasons.
