Cannot release my feet from road pedals?

I have been having a problem releasing my foot from my pedals. The pedals are Performance’s Forte CR150 road pedals. I believe they use the Look Delta cleats. Since I purchased the pedals/cleats a few years ago, I have only been able to release my feet if I turn my heel towards the bike. If I try to twist away from the bike, I cannot release my feet. The current cleats have a 9 degree of rotational float. What can I do to correct this problem? Reposition the cleats? Try a pair of fixed cleats with no float? Thank you in advance for your answers.

There are other people that have the same problem. I would start by turning the tension adjustment to the lowest setting possible.
